On March 10th, the UTIA organized a charity event, Uchiko ♥ Tohoku, in remembrance of the Tohoku disaster a year ago. The venue had to be changed to the Ikazaki community center due to the overwhelmingly high response. We were able to host 310 guests whose generosity was a huge part of the success of the event.

At the event, local and international artists and musicians came together to perform a live music concert and dances. We also had a wide array of food from different parts of the world. The Uchiko's Handicraft Association took an important part in the auction portion of the event—the artists donated their art pieces to be auctioned off. The event generated 636,005 Yen which the UTIA has donated to Fair Trade Tohoku organization on March 19th.
